Welcome! I’m Margie, the artist behind Margie Sherman Design.

Every design begins long before I sit down in the studio. It starts outside—in the garden, along woodland paths, or wherever nature offers a fleeting moment of beauty. I grow many of the flowers I use from seed, carefully tending them through the seasons before preserving each bloom by hand through the traditional art of flower pressing.

Watching a flower transform never loses its magic. Colors change, delicate veins become more pronounced, and each petal takes on a character all its own. Those preserved botanicals become the building blocks of my original artwork, where every composition is created from real flowers and leaves rather than illustrations or digital drawings.

From there, the artwork begins a new journey.

The original pressed flower pieces are thoughtfully transformed into wallpapers, fabrics, textiles, stationery, and home décor designed to bring the beauty of nature into everyday living. Whether it’s a powder room wrapped in botanicals, a favorite tea towel hanging in the kitchen, or a handwritten note sent on a floral card, I love creating pieces that add warmth, color, and a sense of wonder to the places where life happens.

What began as a love for flowers and natural forms has grown into a studio centered around intentional living — creating pieces that feel both artistic and deeply personal. Every pattern is designed to evoke a feeling: the softness of summer light, the calm of the forest, the nostalgia of gathering around the kitchen table, or the joy found in simple daily rituals.

At the heart of Margie Sherman Design is the belief that functional pieces can still feel meaningful, expressive, and beautiful. Tea towels become small works of art. Textiles become storytellers. Everyday spaces become more welcoming, layered, and alive.

Nature has always taught me to slow down. Flowers bloom in their own time, seasons are always changing, and beauty often appears in places we weren’t expecting. My creative process reflects that same rhythm—patient, intentional, and deeply rooted in the natural world.

One of the greatest joys of this work is knowing that a bloom from my garden can become part of someone else’s home and daily life. Every pattern carries the story of a real flower that once swayed in the breeze, welcomed bees and butterflies, and was carefully preserved to be enjoyed in a new way for years to come.

And then there’s Sherman.

Margie Sherman Design is named after my Australian Shepherd, Sherman—my loyal studio companion, enthusiastic garden supervisor, and occasional reminder to step away from the workbench for a walk outside. While he’s not particularly interested in posing for photos, he’s woven into the heart of this business and brings a little extra joy to every day.
